Adopt a Greyhound

Ellie - Ready for Adoption Soon
Adopting a greyhound is simpler than most people expect.
They settle into home life quickly, are generally calm and fit well into many households.
At Greys 2nd Chance, we place greyhounds into foster homes first so we understand their behaviour, routine and what type of home will suit them best. This helps us match each dog with the right adopter.
💙 Foster-assessed before adoption

Prince
Male | 4 years old | 28 kg | Ready for Adoption
Hi! I'm Prince. 👋
I've been settling into foster care and everyone keeps telling me what a clever, affectionate boy I am. I'm learning all about life as a pet and I think I'm ready to tell you what my dream home looks like.
Here's my wish list...
🏡 A single-level home with a secure yard where I can stretch my legs and enjoy a little zoomie every now and then.
☀️ A covered patio would be wonderful. I love relaxing outside on a comfy bed, watching the world go by and listening to all the interesting sounds.
🛏️ Speaking of beds... I'd love a couple inside and maybe one outside too. You can never have too many cosy places for a nap.
🧥 A warm coat for those chilly mornings.
🥣 An elevated food and water station would make me very happy.
❤️ And most importantly... lots and lots of cuddles.
What can I offer you?
☕ I'll happily keep you company while you enjoy your morning coffee or tea.
🚶 I'll remind you it's time for our daily walk because I really enjoy getting out and exploring.
🌱 I'm currently an apprentice gardener. I'll happily supervise your gardening efforts... or roll around in the grass while you do all the hard work.
😊 I'm affectionate, curious, clever and love being involved in whatever you're doing.
There is just one thing I'd like to ask...
I'm still learning that being on my own for short periods is okay, so I'll need someone patient who can continue building my confidence.
And if you happen to have a friendly female greyhound looking for a companion... well, I think that would make my life pretty special.
If you think we might be the perfect match, I'd love to meet you.
Love,
Prince 💙

Female | 2.5 years old | Black
Hi! I'm Ellie. 👋
I've only just arrived in foster care, so everything is still a little bit new to me.
Every day I'm becoming a little more confident as I discover what life in a home is all about. There are so many new experiences waiting for me, and I'm taking them all one step at a time.
Here's what I'm looking for...
🏡 A loving home where I can continue building my confidence.
🛏️ A nice comfy bed (I've already discovered how wonderful they are!).
🧸 A few toys to help me learn that playing can be lots of fun.
🧥 A warm coat for those chilly mornings.
❤️ A family who will be patient while I settle in and discover just how wonderful pet life can be.
What can I offer you?
💙 I'll celebrate the little milestones with you as I grow in confidence.
🐾 You'll get to watch me discover new things and see my personality blossom.
😊 I'll be a loyal companion who simply wants to be part of your family.
Right now I'm still learning all about home life, but every day I'm becoming a little more relaxed and a little more curious about the world around me.
My foster carer says I'm already enjoying my cosy bed, staying warm under my blanket and beginning to show an interest in toys. I have a feeling there are many more discoveries still to come.
If you're looking for a beautiful young greyhound to share life's adventures with, I'd love to meet you.
Love,
Ellie 💙

Duke - Foster to Adopt
Male | 2 years old | 29kg | Brindle
Duke is a big, handsome brindle boy ready to begin the next chapter of his life as a family companion.
With his soft and gentle nature, Duke is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where he can settle into everyday life and experience all the things that come with being part of a family.
Having not lived as a pet before, Duke will need a patient home willing to guide him through all the “firsts” — from learning household routines to discovering toys, walks and relaxing on the couch. Greyhounds adapt beautifully with consistency, kindness and routine, and Duke has all the makings of a wonderful companion.
As we are currently short on foster carers, Duke is available through our foster-to-adopt pathway. This allows him to move straight into a home while we support both Duke and his potential adopter through the transition.

Freddy - Foster to Adopt
Male | 6 years old | Red Fawn
Freddy is a handsome red fawn boy currently looking for a foster-to-adopt home
Having previously lived in a home environment, we would really love to see Freddy move from kennels back into a home as soon as possible so he can begin settling into family life again.
As we are currently short on foster carers, Freddy is available through our foster-to-adopt pathway. This allows him to move straight into a home while we support both Freddy and his potential adopter through the transition.
Freddy is a gorgeous boy ready for his next chapter, and we would love to hear from anyone interested in giving him that opportunity.

How Adoption Works
1. Submit an application or enquiry
2. We review and discuss suitable matches
3. Meet and greet or trial period
4. Adoption is finalised
We guide you through each step and are available if you need support.
Foster to Adopt - What it Means
Some of our greyhounds are listed as Foster to Adopt.
This means they are still waiting to enter foster care, and we are looking for a home that can support them during this transition.
You’ll receive guidance and support from our team while the dog settles into home life, with the goal of moving to full adoption.
Why Greyhounds?
Greyhounds are known for being easy to live with.
💙 Generally calm indoors
💙 Low exercise requirements
💙 Adapt well to routine
💙 Comfortable in many home environments
They are a practical choice for many households, including first-time dog owners.
