Adopt a Greyhound

Adopting a greyhound is simpler than most people expect.
They settle into home life quickly, are generally calm and fit well into many households.
At Greys 2nd Chance, we place greyhounds into foster homes first so we understand their behaviour, routine and what type of home will suit them best. This helps us match each dog with the right adopter.
💙 Foster-assessed before adoption
💙 Matched to your lifestyle

Available Greyhounds

Onslow - Available for Adoption
Male | 3 years old | 36 kg
At 36kg, Onslow may look like a giant… but he is really just a big old teddy bear who wants nothing more than snuggles
He’s been settling into foster life beautifully and we’re starting to see more of his personality shine:
-
Loves a cuddle (and will remind you… with a wet nose tap in the middle of the night)
-
Has great recall
-
Very clever… figured out stairs in 24 hours!
-
Also a bit of a smarty pants when it comes to kitchen benches
He’s learning, exploring and enjoying all the comforts of home life… and doing it in his own big, lovable way.
And despite his size, he is all heart. If you’ve ever dreamed of a big, affectionate, slightly cheeky companion, Onslow might just be your boy.

Shyla - Available for Adoption
Female | 2 years old | 26 kg
Shyla is a shy, gentle girl who is still learning about life outside of racing. She has not been in foster care for long and is slowly gaining confidence. She will suit a patient home that can give her time, understanding and love.

Prince - Foster to Adopt
Male | 4 years old | 28 kg
Prince is waiting to come into foster care and is available through our foster-to-adopt program. This is a great opportunity to support his transition into home life while getting to know him.

Bandit - Foster to Adopt
Male | 2 years old | 36 kg
Bandit is a big, beautiful boy looking for a foster-to-adopt home. As we currently don’t have available foster carers, this pathway allows him to move straight into a home where he can begin adjusting to family life.

Duke - Foster to Adopt
Male | 2 years old | 29kg | Brindle
Duke is a big, handsome brindle boy ready to begin the next chapter of his life as a family companion.
With his soft and gentle nature, Duke is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where he can settle into everyday life and experience all the things that come with being part of a family.
Having not lived as a pet before, Duke will need a patient home willing to guide him through all the “firsts” — from learning household routines to discovering toys, walks and relaxing on the couch. Greyhounds adapt beautifully with consistency, kindness and routine, and Duke has all the makings of a wonderful companion.
As we are currently short on foster carers, Duke is available through our foster-to-adopt pathway. This allows him to move straight into a home while we support both Duke and his potential adopter through the transition.

Ellie - Foster to Adopt
Female | 2.5 years old | Black
Ellie is a beautiful young girl ready to leave kennel life behind and begin her next chapter in a home environment.
Curious, affectionate and still learning about the world around her, Ellie is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where she can settle into family life at her own pace.
Having not lived as a pet before, Ellie will need guidance, patience and routine while she experiences all the things that are new to her — from household sounds and neighbourhood walks to toys, couches and everyday companionship.
Greyhounds are known for adapting well to home life, and Ellie has the potential to become a wonderful, loyal companion in the right environment.
As we are currently short on foster carers, Ellie is available through our foster-to-adopt pathway. This allows her to move straight into a home while we support both Ellie and her potential adopter through the transition.

Freddy - Foster to Adopt
Male | 6 years old | Red Fawn
Freddy is a handsome red fawn boy currently looking for a foster-to-adopt home
Having previously lived in a home environment, we would really love to see Freddy move from kennels back into a home as soon as possible so he can begin settling into family life again.
As we are currently short on foster carers, Freddy is available through our foster-to-adopt pathway. This allows him to move straight into a home while we support both Freddy and his potential adopter through the transition.
Freddy is a gorgeous boy ready for his next chapter, and we would love to hear from anyone interested in giving him that opportunity.

Tommy - Foster to Adopt
Male | 2 years old
Tommy is a young boy with a big personality and an even bigger love for people.
Affectionate, social and always wanting to be involved, Tommy enjoys being close to his humans and thrives on attention and companionship. Whether it’s pats, cuddles or simply following you around the house, he is happiest being part of daily life.
Tommy also loves his walks and is eager to get out and explore. He has a fun, playful side but is also intelligent, attentive and keen to learn, making him a great dog to continue training and building confidence with.
As we are currently short on foster carers, Tommy is available through our foster-to-adopt pathway. This allows him to move straight into a home while we support both Tommy and his potential adopter through the transition into family life.
Tommy would suit someone willing to give him time, consistency and plenty of companionship in return for a loyal and affectionate best mate.
