Our adoption process is designed to help us find the right match for both you and the greyhound.

The process generally includes:

1. Complete an adoption application.

2. A volunteer will contact you to discuss your application.

3. A home check will be arranged.

4. You'll meet a suitable greyhound.

5. If everyone is happy, we'll finalise the adoption and help your new companion settle into their forever home.

Greys 2nd Chance is a small, volunteer-run rescue committed to giving greyhounds the opportunity to enjoy life as loved family companions.

As an anti-racing rescue, our focus is entirely on the welfare of the dogs. We carefully assess each greyhound, provide foster care where possible, and support our adopters long after adoption.

Yes. Greyhounds are often gentle, affectionate and calm companions who enjoy spending time with their families.

Like all dogs, every greyhound has its own personality, so we'll help match you with a dog that suits your lifestyle and household.

Many greyhounds live happily with children, but every dog is different and every child is different.

At Greys 2nd Chance, our minimum age for children in an adoptive home is 8 years.

Children should always be taught how to interact respectfully with dogs and all interactions should be supervised, particularly during the settling-in period. We carefully consider both the greyhound and the family before recommending a match.

Many greyhounds enjoy living with other dogs.

Introducing any new dog to existing pets should always be done slowly and with supervision. We recommend closely supervising interactions for at least the first one to two weeks while everyone learns each other's routines and personalities.

We will always provide guidance based on the individual greyhound you're adopting.

Some can, and some cannot.

Each greyhound has a different level of prey drive, and we'll only consider homes with cats for greyhounds that have been assessed as potentially suitable.

Even then, introductions should be gradual and carefully managed. It's the responsibility of the owner to supervise and help both animals adjust safely. Our goal is always to make the best possible match for everyone involved.

Most adoptions take between one and four weeks, depending on the availability of both the adopter and the greyhound.

Sometimes the perfect match happens quickly, while other times it may take a little longer. We believe it's worth taking the time to find the right dog for your home.

Some greyhounds are waiting to enter foster care and are offered through our Foster to Adopt program.

This option allows you to welcome the greyhound into your home while we continue supporting both you and the dog during the transition. It's also an excellent choice for people who are interested in adopting but would like the opportunity to experience life with a greyhound before making a lifelong commitment.
